MegaVision's i2 MacroBack
AIA IS PROUD TO PARTNER WITH MEGAVISION, the company that introduced the first digital camera, a pioneer in digital commercial photography , and an established leader in medical imaging, to introduce a digital camera specifically designed for Macro photography… the i2 MacroBack.
MegaVision's i3S MacroBack features:
- an interline frame transfer sensor
- built in live focus in a macro environment helps to line up images, obtain optimal perspective and fine tune camera-to-subject distance relative to DOF(Depth of Focus/Field)
- sensor based shuttering - At higher magnification, camera movement is a valid concern. Sensor based shuttering is superior to mirror box DSLR designs because there are no moving parts prior to or during the capture
- 2,000 x 2,000 6.8 micron pixel resolution(6.8 micron pixels are available on larger sensors costing 2 to 3 times the cost of the i2 MacroBack)
- 15mm X 15mm Kodak sensor optimizing frame filling images at lesser magnification than larger sensors, resulting in more DOF. Rule of thumb, as magnification increases, depth of focus decreases.
The i2 Macroback is typically configured for Nikon lenses, which allows mounting onto bellows based imaging equipment with view camera apochromatic lenses, or more traditional Nikon based micro and macro lenses. Other lens mounts can be custom ordered. The Coastal Optics 60mm f4 UV-VIS-IR Apo Macro lens (pictured) is optimized for excellent performance from UV, through visible, to IR wavelengths.

The i2 MacroBack is available in Bayer pattern color sensors, and in monochrome. The monochrome, coupled with a hyper spectral lighting system, can be an important forensic imaging tool
